About Us

Bob Palmateer and his wife Carla have recently opened Charlie’s Restaurant on Rt. 30, Amsterdam to the community. Many structural redesigns have taken place. From a more open dining area and bar room, to an extended parking lot, diners are now able to enjoy a great meal in comfortable surroundings.

Our menu differs from other restaurants in many ways. Offering an extensive variety of foods all made from scratch, with over 50 combined years of experience, customers can expect the very best in profession al service.

We specialize in Home Cooked “Comfort Food” and hand cut steaks. All steaks are “choice beef” or higher. Also Angus Beef cuts are always available from our on staff professional butcher.

We also cater to customers with special dietary needs and special requests. “If it’s not on the menu , we’ll cook it”

Homemade baked goods include: Fresh baked bread daily, Italian cream cakes, French silk pies, and homemade rice and bread puddings.

We’ve brought many unique culinary delights to Amsterdam such as our signature items including: Red Jade Almond Chicken, Kentucky Hot Brown Classic, Hibachi Steak, Braised Rack of Lamb, Chesapeake Scrod, Mahi-Mahi, and don’t forget a live Lobster Habitat. Also our famous “Sushi Night”, Our “Early Dining Specials” and full stocked bar, featuring many signature beers on tap: Shock Top, Sam Adams White Ale, Land Shark, Magic Hat and Lake Placid Ubu.
